Art Connect at Spotted Rabbit Studio is a weekly art-based support group for LGBTQIA+ adults looking for a creative outlet for emotional expression. The group offers a safe and supportive space to address the unique challenges queer people face. Participants can share and express themselves while working on group and individual art activities based on a weekly theme. Weekly themes vary from cultivating hope, practicing self-care, healthy relationship building, developing identity, building community, and more!
“The queer community is historically a very creative and artistic group and we want to embrace that by providing a space to practice creativity alongside other queer people. ”
Art-making allows for a safe and often deeper understanding of experiences and provides a unique way to share and connect with others. The queer community is historically a very creative and artistic group and we want to embrace that by providing a space to practice creativity alongside other queer people.
The group is facilitated by a queer creative arts therapy intern at Spotted Rabbit that crafts each session with queer people in mind. Art making includes but is not limited to drawing, painting, collage, paper crafts, and fiber crafts.
