Trying to find pieces of your authentic self, particularly after experiencing an overly codependent or enmeshed relationship is not only challenging, but painful. Attachment and relational trauma erode our sense of self and our independence, often leaving us reliant on the very people who have been most hurtful to us. We lose trust in our own abilities, thoughts, and emotions which leads to feeling untethered, anxious, and/or depressed. Because we’ve grown up within cycles of generational trauma it can be difficult to even sort out what is abusive and toxic behavior as such experiences have become normalized within the existing family dynamic. For a multitude of reasons, simply leaving or cutting out toxic relationships isn’t as easy as one might think.

My interdisciplinary educational background and use of theoretical frameworks, which include person-centered, feminist/multicultural, integrative, mindfulness-based, and attachment theory, inform how I perceive others as intersectional and complex beings influenced by a myriad of systems. I believe that therapy is collaborative and that my clients are the authorities of their own experiences. In addition to struggling with interpersonal relationships, most of my clients identify as LGBTQIA+ or neurodivergent. Exploring how these lived experiences have also shaped your beliefs and behaviors will be an important part of our work together. Overall my approach focuses on authenticity, empowerment, and exploration of the self. I want to be a facilitator for your growth, allow for expression of your identity, and develop a meaningful therapeutic connection together.

  • Are you feeling confused about your sense of self?
  • Have you been questioning your gender/sexuality, and are in need of a supportive and safe place for exploration?
  • Do you find it difficult to set boundaries with others?
  • Do you struggle with low self-esteem and self-worth?
  • Do you consider yourself a people pleaser or a perfectionist?
  • Have you frequently found yourself in unhealthy relationships?
  • Do you feel stuck and aren’t sure how to take action in your life?
  • Are you looking for a therapist who is personally part of the LGBTQPIA+ community?

If the answer to many of these is yes, please reach out to see how I can help.

“People are afraid to heal because their entire identity is centered around the trauma they’ve experienced. They have no idea who they are outside of trauma and that unknown is terrifying.”
